Backup Power Planner

How long will a power station run it?

Runtime is capacity × 85% usable ÷ average load. A fridge doesn’t draw its nameplate watts all day because its compressor cycles, so we use its daily energy instead: a full-size fridge on a 1,024 Wh station runs for about 10–19 hours, depending on the fridge.

Start with a common setup

How we estimate runtime

runtime (h) = capacity (Wh) × 0.85 ÷ average load (W)

  • 85% usable accounts for inverter and battery losses. Change it under Assumptions in the planner (EcoFlow’s own examples imply 80%).
  • Fridges use daily energy by type (ENERGY STAR/DOE ranges), not nameplate watts.
  • Everything else uses its running watts × the hours per day you set. Anything left at “all day” is counted as running nonstop, the worst case.
  • Surge: a station must also start your biggest motor. If a maker doesn’t publish surge watts, we say we can’t confirm it rather than guess.
